The location of the oil cooler utilizes the aerodynamics in order to cool the oil, all while putting the lightweight, tube-and-fin cooler in harm's way of road hazards. Mishimoto made sure to beef up the entire oil cooling system design for the F80/82 with their performance oil cooler, replacing the lightweight design for a full aluminum, TIG-welded bar- and plate cooler for added strength and cooling. The bars and plates are a much more robust form of heat exchanger core construction intended for improved heat transfer and have the strength to shrug off potential road debris, keeping your oil temps down where they should be.
In addition to this an extra degree of protection is added by installing the Braided Oil Cooler Line Kit. The OEM lines are prone to corrosion and abrasion over time, leading to leaks and improper lubrication of your mighty S55. The Mishimoto kit allows you to replace these factory lines with a set of application-specific, robust nylon braided hoses that are ready to stand up to the harsh conditions found under the hood of your BMW. The kit includes all of the necessary hardware to adapt these lines to your BMW.“
